Funny how a year ago, around the same time, all the distress I was going through. Once a year passed by it got a bit easier to deal with. I've come to terms with my illness and I know I can't expect things to change over night. I was hoping by now I would have already had my second transplant and everything that happened last winter would be put behind me, alas, not everything works out that way. I should know that by now, I've been chronically ill my entire life. As of tomorrow that will be 28 years of constant doctor appointments and hospitalizations. Now I'm not really trying to complain, I'm quite happy with the fact that I'm still alive and kicking, I have a wonderful husband, and supportive family. Dialysis has become much like a routine for me, I want to say like brushing your teeth every night but you don't get poked by 2 giant 15 gauge needles every time you brush, lol. Eh it's not that bad, they have numbing spray and my skin is starting to toughen up... not sure if that's a good thing though. I won't be put on the transplant list until sometime in 2013 because they found cancer developing in/on one of my native kidneys. It was renal cell carcinoma, stage 3, very aggressive. Luckily for me being on dialysis and everything kept it from spreading and causing lots of problems, so it was contained. All they had to do was remove the kidney, which they did April 7th, 2011. I require no chemo or anything, just routine follow up for the next 2 years to make sure I'm in the clear and that it doesn't develop else where. They were going to remove both kidneys but it was too much for my body so they only managed to get the one out and because surgery is risky for me they decided to leave the other one for now. I haven't really done much art since I've been sick so I apologize. I have been sewing a great deal, perhaps I'll post some of my creations. Currently I'm on the hunt for a French Bulldog to keep me company since I'm home alone all the time. Why a French Bulldog, well I love bulldogs, I have experience with the breed, and since they are smaller in size I don't have to worry much about them possibly hurting me because at the moment I am a little frail, a St. Bernard or a Mastiff would be over kill for me, lol. Hmm yes, enough of my boring life, I'm done rambling.
